AX DRUG-USING FIREFIGHTERS

I am writing in regard to the Madison firefighters who use drugs. I think
that all the firefighters who were using and selling drugs should be fired.
The community should support Chief Debra Amesqua's decision to dismiss
these people from the fire department.

Firefighters are supposed to protect people and be role models for children
and teenagers. How can we trust firefighters if we think they may be using
drugs? Children may believe it's OK to use drugs if we don't punish people
for using illegal drugs. I believe that people who choose to break the law
should pay the consequences.

The consequence is that firefighters who use and sell drugs should lose
their job. They don't deserve a second chance because they could have
risked other people's lives. The firefighters knew what they were doing was
wrong in the first place. I feel sorry for the firefighters' families who
will also suffer the consequences, but this is something the firefighters
should have thought about before choosing to break the law.
