WHY IS POT ILLEGAL?

I WAS disappointed in the snide remark ("Marijuana obviously does
affect intelligence, Chuck.") at the end of the excellent and concise
letter of Feb. 5.

It is more than obvious that the prohibition of drugs leads to loss of
intelligence in editors. The real problems associated with drugs are
mostly due to the fact that they are illegal. We as a society need
more than snide comments from anonymous editors. We need you to ask
the tough questions -- why is pot illegal?
