ONCE A PREDATOR, ALWAYS A PREDATOR
RALPH L. Smith's letter (Sunday Sun, Feb. 4) indicating that bikers pose
little threat to anyone other than their competitors and it is Canadian
society which has propagated their activities is absurd to say the least.
The outlaw biker gangs have taken and will continue to embark on any
illegal avenue which will turn over an easy dollar, putting them in control
of various criminal sectors.
It is ludicrous to suggest the legalization of prostitution and relaxation
of drug laws will affect the activities of these gangs. The members of
these gangs are predators who prey on our society regardless of the laws of
the land.
If society chooses to regulate prostitution, the gangs will continue to
recruit young teens to provide that which will inevitably be deemed
illegal. If the courts declare that marijuana in moderate amounts is legal,
then the gangs will step up their sales of Ecstasy, which is killing our
youths.
The members of bike gangs are the self-professed one-per-centers (the
percentage of people committing crime) of our society and only a combined
effort from the people of Canada and law enforcement will make it safe for
all who are fortunate enough to live here.
