SOLDIERS FAIL RANDOM DRUG TEST

Three King's Own Scottish Borderers have been dismissed from the army
after failing a random drugs test. A spokeswoman for the army in
Scotland confirmed the soldiers were sacked following tests at their
base last month.

The soldiers were stationed at Episkopi in Cyprus.

The spokeswoman said: "The purpose of random drug tests is to get rid
of drug users in the army so that it is a drug-free environment.

"We have a zero tolerance policy and if anyone fails the random drugs
test then their career is finished."

Last week it emerged that 11 members of the Black Watch were
dismissed after failing tests at their base in Fallingbostel in
northern Germany.

The soldiers were tested and sacked just before Christmas, but it
took some time for the news to emerge.
