INJECTING HEROIN KILLS, NOT DELAYS
I READ with interest an article in The Border Mail (February 20) by a
proposed Kings Cross injecting room co-ordinator that delays in
establishing safe injecting rooms are costing the lives of drugs addicts.
I beg to disagree.
It is the injecting of harmful drugs that is causing death and
destruction. Drugs are illegal because they are dangerous, not vice
versa.
True compassion is to help users get off the stuff, not help them
continue with a practice that will invariably destroy them in the end.
Too hard? Well it works in Sweden.
