REFERENCE FACTS FOR OPINION

Sandra S. Bennett's Jan. 28 opinion, "War On Illegal Drugs Should Be
Escalated," should have included more of the facts and references she
used.

Extensive studies by the U. S. government, doctors and scientists show
Bennett's assertions to be false. A current and correct book of
reference, "The Great Book Of Hemp: The Complete Guide To The
Commercial, Medical And Psychotropic Uses Of The World's Most
Extraordinary Plant" by Rowan Robinson and Robert A. Nelson, is
available at any library.

I am concerned that Bennett's exaggerations were produced by a director
of the Northwest Center for Health and Safety, a past President of Drug
Watch International and past President of Oregon Federation of Parents
for Drug Free Youth.
