135 OFFICERS FIRED OVER ALLEGED TIES
Colombia's National Police fired 135 officers for alleged links to
right-wing paramilitary groups and for human rights violations, the largest
purge of state security forces in the last four months.
In October, the army fired 388 officers for alleged human rights violations.
Rights groups say Colombia's state security forces have links to
paramilitary groups responsible for the killings of scores of people as
part of a "dirty war" against rebels and suspected collaborators.
