GROUP UPDATED ON EFFORT TO KEEP DARE IN CISD
Members of the Canyon Independent School District Education Foundation
met Thursday, but made no major decisions about funding the Drug Abuse
Resistance Education program.
The DARE program is funded jointly by the school district and the
Randall County Sheriff's Department, but will be losing county funds
as a result of the rollback election.
The foundation announced two weeks ago it wanted to help fund the
program and would look into bringing in the community for financial
support.
Delores Fincher, director of the foundation, said board members were
updated on DARE successes and community response.
The board will meet at noon on March 22 in the CISD administration
building. Fincher said the board should be ready to announce whether
funding DARE is a possibility for the foundation.
