FAILED DRUG WAR
ST. LOUIS -- I agree with Dave Michon's letter, "End drug war" (Voice of
the people, March 6).
The only evils in the drug war are the crime and incarceration, which are
solely caused by prohibition.
We accepted the failure of alcohol prohibition in 13 years; why has the
"War on Some Drugs" continued for more than eight decades?
Answer: It's a scapegoat for society's ills, it destroys that pesky 4th
Amendment and it keeps minorities in jail.
