IRRESPONSIBLE COVERAGE OF ECSTASY TROUBLES MOM

I am appalled and deeply disturbed by the irresponsible and
misleading coverage of the Ecstasy drug problem.

I am the mother of three daughters. As my family was eating dinner
the other night, my 7-year-old and her 8-year-old friend were talking
at the table. My 7-year-old chose to have water as her drink, her
friend chose soda pop.

"Did you know that drinking too much water can kill you," said my
daughter's friend. I instantly knew where that idea came from. "

While adults can put the whole drug/water scenario into context,
children do not. All they are hearing is that a teen died from
drinking too much water. Thus, they might think it's OK to take the
drug, just don't drink too much water with it.

The problem is the drug, not the water.
