TALK, DON'T TEST
re: Court Rulings Signal a Shift on Random Drug Tests In Schools, March 25)
It is good to see recent rulings moving us away from warrantless drug
testing of students. Such tests are expensive, open to error and are an
affront to respect and privacy.
If parents want to know whether their children are using drugs, why not ask
them? The only logical reason they would respond with a lie is if they do
not trust the person asking the question.
And if so, the relationship between parent and child needs more help then
what is likely to come from a coerced urine test.
