CHINA 'FLOODING PHILIPPINES WITH DRUGS'
The Philippines' national security adviser, Roilo Golez, has suggested that
a large percentage of the illegal drugs entering the country come from China.
He said about a billion dollars worth of the drug methamphetamine
hydrochloride - or ice - is smuggled in from China each year, about a fifth
of the total value of the narcotics trade in the Philippines.
Mr Golez also suggested that some members of the Chinese military are
involved in running drug manufacturing plants in China's coastal provinces.
The Philippines has previously alerted the Chinese authorities to the
problem, and Mr Golez said he hoped they would now take tough action to
stem the flow of narcotics.
