OFFICER GUILTY IN DRUG CASE

A New York City police officer pleaded guilty yesterday to charges of
trafficking in heroin and cocaine, the United States attorney's
office for the Eastern District of New York said.

The officer, Willie Parson, was a homicide detective assigned to the
Manhattan North Homicide Task Force.

He admitted to participating in a conspiracy with other officers to
act as couriers for Dominican narcotics traffickers in Washington
Heights.

Mr. Parson and two men who pleaded guilty in February - Detective
Steven Fuller and Philip Moog, an officer who is now retired - each
face a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $4 million fine.
