MANHATTAN: 3 IN PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE ARRESTED

Three maintenance workers for the Manhattan district attorney's office have
been arrested on drug charges, officials said yesterday. Investigators said
they found narcotics last week in the home of one of the cleaners, Wilfredo
Gonzalez, and later found cocaine inside a desk drawer in the district
attorney's offices. Two of Mr. Gonzalez's co-workers used the desk to hide
drugs they had found in his locker, investigators believe. Mr. Gonzalez has
been fired, and his co-workers have been suspended and are likely to be
fired. Barbara Thompson, a spokesman for the district attorney, said there
was no evidence that Mr. Gonzalez was involved in drug sales.
