JUDGE SLAMS ANTI-DRUGS CAMPAIGN

A Family Court judge has accused the Federal Government's latest anti-drugs
campaign as being misguided and using inappropriate slogans.

Justice Sally Brown told a Melbourne conference on drugs and young people,
phrases such as "war on drugs" polarised people, intimating that people who
did not support the war were traitors.

Justice Brown also said the focus of the campaign was middle class,
claiming calls for action against drugs increased when a middle class
person became a victim.

"What we need to remember is that justice, social justice, as well as
criminal justice is something to strive for, she said.

"Young people deserve no less than justice and privileged oldies like me
deserve no more."
