TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT DRUGS

A Forest mother did the right thing when she reported her son to the
police for possession of a drug.

She stumbled across a small bottle of Cannibis Resin while going through
his pockets on laundry day. A normal occurrence in every household. But
instead of finding coins, she found something that no doubt disturbed
her.

This and the charging of seven young people with drug possession last
week highlight the need to continue educating young people of the
dangers of using drugs.

Police reacted with the usual caution to the public but the onus is
really on the parents to keep talking to their children so they know if
something is awry. Other teenagers can also help a family discover drug
use. They are the ones closest to your teen and likely know more about
this young person than you do. A close relationship with a son's or
daughter's friend would help tremendously.
