COLORADO: MEDICAL MARIJUANA PLAN BACKED
The Colorado Senate passed a voter-approved medical marijuana plan on
Monday even though the Senate passed a resolution opposing it last
year. Marijuana use and distribution for medicinal purposes is
prohibited by the federal government, but lawmakers here said they
had to pass the bill to conform with the State Constitution. An
initiative to allow patients to register for marijuana use with a
qualifying illnesses and a doctor's permission was approved in
November.
