WAR ON DRUGS DOWNRIGHT DOPEY
Bravo to Ginelle Weber, the Oakridge High School student, for standing up
for her convictions and refusing her school's mandatory drug-testing policy
("Honor student pays high price for refusing drug tests," April 8). Despite
what some courts say, drug tests violate the U.S. Constitution's
prohibition against searches without probable cause.
It's time our government realizes that its "War on Drugs" is a failure.
Just as alcohol prohibition didn't work, neither does drug prohibition. The
only rational solution is decriminalization with regulation.
