PUNISH EXPORTERS
I was shocked when I read the April 17 letter to the editor from the Rev.
William Shirk ("Futile drug war"). He said we should legalize the use of
drugs because the drug war is too costly and not effective enough.
After the law is changed, as he suggests, will he then tell the young
people of his church that it's wrong to use drugs? We test drivers to see
if they are under the influence of alcohol, but not under the influence of
illegal drugs.
The Bible verse 1 Corinthians 6:19 reads, "What? know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and
ye are not your own?"
Reverend, wouldn't it be better for our government to tell the countries
that export and grow the drugs that they receive no foreign aid or cannot
trade with us until they stop the exportation of drugs?
We should not be a stumbling block to those who are weak. Our roads are
dangerous enough without putting more drivers on drugs behind the wheel.
