PROVO LINK TO SUSPECTED DRUGS KILLING

THE murder of a suspected drug dealer at the weekend was the second
drugs-connected murder the Provisional IRA are believed to have carried
out in the past two weeks.

Paul Daly, a 38-year-old father of four, was gunned down in broad
daylight in Belfast city centre while sitting in his car with his wife
and 12-year-old daughter.

The previous murder was that of Christopher O'Kane in Derry, over a week
ago.

Daly's family deny that the weekend murder had anything to do with
drugs, pointing out that he was never convicted.

Daly's wife and daughter escaped injury when the car was riddled with
bullets. The victim, who was hit as many as 10 times, tried to leave the
car but fell dead beside it.

Police are looking for two men who ran in the direction of Library
Street to a waiting car, a Nissan, which was stolen in the loyalist
Shankill Road earlier. An attempt to burn the getaway car failed.
