MP FIGHTS SOLVENT ABUSE
OTTAWA -- Federal NDP health critic Judy Wasylycia-Leis is taking her
battle against solvent abuse to the floor of the House of Commons.
In a private member's bill introduced last week, Wasylycia-Leis wants fines
of up to $10,000 and six-month jail sentences for anyone guilty of selling
solvents for the purposes of intoxication.
The Winnipeg North Centre MP said it is something police have been
demanding. "It may not be easy to enforce but it is one more tool for police."
