RIGHT AND WRONG

DESPITE an incorrect report on ABC radio, I have not encouraged
students in our schools to dob on their parents for growing illegal
drugs.

What I did advocate and support is that our young people are taught
the difference between right and wrong.

Drugs are a community issue and schools are playing their part in the
responsible education of our young people, including providing
information about the damaging effects of drug use and details of the
police drugs phone-in.

I encouraged this responsible action by schools and told the media
that while I would not hesitate to contact police if I had information
on drugs, I acknowledged this was a personal decision to be made by
individual members of the community, including students.
