POT NO LONGER COOL DOWN UNDER

SYDNEY -- Smoking cannabis is no longer seen as cool by young
Australians, a survey showed today. The drug has lost its hip status
and become unfashionable much like cigarettes, the National Drug and
Alcohol Research Centre study found.

Seventy-five per cent of the 1,500 people surveyed said they thought
smoking marijuana was dangerous or very dangerous, and half said they
believed it could trigger schizophrenia or anxiety disorders.

The report noted cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug in
Australia, with one in every three people over the age of 14 having
used it.
