DARE STUDENTS LEARN TO JUST SAY NO

LEARNING TO say no could be one of the most important lessons the
children today are being educated on.

The DARE program is gaining popularity in it's quest to inform
children of the dangers and side effects that surround substance
abuse.

Last week 22 students successfully graduated from the DARE program at
Baker Elementary.

Four of the graduates presented speeches, informing the spectators
about their recently gained knowledge concerning drugs and alcohol.
What narcotics do to a person mentally, physically and how it affects
their family life.

A big part of the program included the ability to say "no" when faced
with a situation where one may find themselves in a situation where
drugs or alcohol are being offered.

The reading of the speeches followed a comical, witty, poem by Darby Reimer.

The presentation of the certificates was conducted by DARE Officer,
Constable Russ Greer. and Staff Sergeant Miller.

Each graduate received a shirt, various pins and a certificate to
demonstrate they successfully finished the program.
