CLAIMS OF POT OVERDOSE DEATHS ABSURD; $1,000 IF YOU CAN FIND ONE

Normally I would not even take the time to respond to such an opinion piece
as the one written By Wevley Shea On May 16 ("Drugs Attack Society's Moral
Fiber"). It Disturbs Me The Way he tries to coerce the people of Alaska to
believe that the marijuana legalization effort has anything to do with
other drugs. All over the world they are talking about decriminalizing
marijuana; in Canada there is even a strong political party named "The
Marijuana Reform Party." I can guarantee you will never see a large-scale
political group in any country called "The Heroin Reform Party."

My opposition has reduced their efforts to using lies like over 9,000 cases
of overdose in a California study of hospital emergency rooms. I wonder why
Shea did not use a study from Alaska emergency rooms? In the past year I
have slept on couches and floors and worked 40-60 hours a week to bring an
end to this horrible war on marijuana and have received no more than $5,000
in pay. However, if you can find me one person who has died from a
marijuana overdose I will give you $1,000.

I am proud to fight for my freedom at whatever cost. I am an Alaskan, work
for Alaskans, am paid by Alaskans and I represent at least 40 percent of
this state's voter population.
