DRUG WAR HAS DARK SIDE

I commend the Leader-Telegram for having the ethical guts to stand up to
the drug war by publishing the column by Ann McFeatters on Friday, May 18:
"Bush Cranking Up Drug War."

The Big Lie is quickly unraveling, and those who are defending it now will
be very ashamed of having done so when the story of drug prohibition is
finally written.

There must have been a lot of support in Wisconsin for Sen. Joseph McCarthy
at one time, but good people soon saw he was mean-spirited, just as these
Morality Police are.

Indeed, the time has come when the drug war zealots -- those spitting on
American freedoms as they imprison countless moms, dads, sons and daughters
for a personal choice -- must be asked, "At long last, have you no sense of
decency left?"
