DO THE CRIME, BUT DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE TIME?

Re: "Low-level felons let out of crowded jail - Dallas County: Plea
deals offered to cut inmate numbers, avert closure," Monday Metro.

To ease overcrowding, the county is accepting plea bargains for drug
offenses, prostitution and burglary. Don't they realize that these
crimes go hand in hand? Drug abusers turn to prostitution or burglary
to finance their drug habits.

Sounds like we need to lock up some county officials for stupidity. I
can almost guarantee the jail population will be back to serious
overcrowding in a few months. What kind of message are we sending
criminals? Do the crime, but don't do the time?
