I'LL SLEEP LESS SOUNDLY, THANKS TO THIS ABSURDITY

I find little to celebrate in the news that the county is releasing
burglars in return for slap-on-the-wrist pleas. The notion that
burglary is a "low-level" offense on par with consensual, victimless
crimes like drug possession is absurd.

Any burglary victim, who knows what it feels like to have the
sanctity of home violated, could explain the difference. Luck is
often the only thing that prevents burglary from becoming a more violent crime.

I, for one, feel far less safe tonight.
