PROSECUTION THE ONLY NEGATIVE
The article, "SOME DRUG SUSPECTS GET NO-JAIL OPTION" (May 23), quotes
Senior Deputy District Attorney Mark McDonnell as saying, "We hope this
will cause people to stop using drugs because it has so many collateral
effects, for them and for society."
As to responsible adult cannabis users, the only negative collateral
consequences, for them and for society, are arrest, prosecution and the
prospects of unnecessary coerced treatment.
