COLOMBIAN SOAP STAR NABBED ON DRUG CHARGE IN MIAMI

MIAMI (Reuters) - A Colombian television actor, Luis Fernando
Montoya-Correa, has been arrested in Miami after allegedly trying to
smuggle heroin concealed in his body, the Customs Service said on
Wednesday.

Inspectors at Miami International Airport grew suspicious when
Montoya acted nervously during a luggage check after he arrived from
Bogota on Sunday night.

He was taken to a local hospital where he later passed 100
latex-covered pellets containing heroin, according to the Customs
Service. It had a total weight of 2.5 pounds and wholesale value of
$80,000. He was arrested on Tuesday.

Montoya enjoyed his heyday as a soap opera star in the 1980s but his
career has faded, in part because of problems with drugs and alcohol.
