MAYORS MISSING POINT - MP
The country's district mayors have got the "wrong end of the stick"
on the cannabis inquiry, says Rotorua MP Steve Chadwick.
Rotorua Mayor Grahame Hall is one of 46 mayors opposing the
decriminalisation of cannabis, and presented a submission to
Parliament's health select committee inquiry last week.
But Ms Chadwick said the inquiry's purpose was to look at the
minimisation of harm of cannabis, not debate whether to decriminalise
it. The mayors seemed to be reacting to hype from opposition MPs that
the outcome of the inquiry was already decided.
