DON'T TELL ONLY ONE SIDE OF STORY ABOUT OXYCONTIN

I think recent coverage in The Post has been telling only one side of the
OxyContin story ("A terrible, terrible drug," May 28). My son is one of the
people for whom this drug makes all the difference in life.

Without OxyContin, he could not work and support his family. I can't say
for a fact that he would be bedridden or in a wheelchair, but I know that
after three back surgeries, all kinds of therapy and trying all kinds of
medicine, this one works for him. I am sure that there are many other
people who take this drug as it should be taken, and it helps them as much
as it helps my son.

Addicts will try anything, and I'm sure they are dying of other drugs also.
I'm sorry for the people who have abused OxyContin and died, but we should
also look at the good that this drug does.
