WEST VIRGINIA: STATE SUES DRUG MAKER
The state sued the makers of the painkiller OxyContin, claiming that they
aggressively tried to get doctors to overprescribe the drug while failing
to warn of its potential for abuse. The drug has been linked to at least
120 overdose deaths nationwide. Named as defendants are Purdue Pharma of
Stamford, Conn., and Abbott Laboratories of Chicago.
