GOVERNOR JOHNSON BOLD AND HONEST

Dear Editor:

I recently had the opportunity to visit New Mexico while attending the
"Drug Policies For The New Millennium" conference in Albuquerque. The
hospitality of the New Mexican people during the event, and while I
traveled to and from it, was heartwarming, to say the least.

Over the course of my visit it became quite clear to me why the people
of your state had the foresight to elect Governor Johnson to New
Mexico's highest office and why he would be the leader bold and honest
enough to embrace an issue long ignored by elected officials of less
character and integrity, the "War On Drugs" and its harm to the American
people. He so typifies the people I met throughout your state and that's
the highest compliment I can give.

I can only hope that, should you travel to Colorado, our people will
treat you so generously. Thank you, New Mexico.
