UNCARING

As the Florida Legislature refuses to provide drug-testing funds for
day-care center employees -- a basic measure to ensure children's safety --
it should come as no surprise that the Legislature is just as backward on
gays and adoption.

The myopic lawmakers of Tallahassee, to put it most diplomatically, simply
have no moral credibility to speak, let alone legislate, on matters
relating to children. For them a child is better off with a drug-addicted
day-care-center employee than a mature, responsible gay or lesbian
individual or couple.
