CANNABIS DESTROYING LIVES

ROBERT SHARPE'S proposal to legalise cannabis use (Letters, 18/6) is
absurd. While deaths from alcohol use and smoking may be higher,
cannabis is certainly not harmless. It often leads to mental health
problems among daily users and it controls their lifestyles. In
addition, people who come into contact with heavy users have to bear
the brunt of the users' mood swings and unhealthy lifestyles.

While I'm sure there are many people who are responsible enough to
use cannabis in moderation without doing too much harm, we have to
remember that it is also destroying many lives.
