ADDICTS ARE PREPARED TO RISK NALTREXONE

I believe that George O'Neil is doing a job in an area that has been left
vacant for too long. The debate about whether the naltrexone implants are
good or bad doesn't really affect what the addicts think about them. They
need a way to solve their problem.

The addicts know that the implants aren't safe and have not been tested,
but they have already pumped stronger and more damaging drugs into their
systems and have nearly killed themselves doing so. I'm sure they are
willing to take another risk to save themselves from their addiction and
possible premature death.

Simply realising that they have to overcome their drug addiction is a huge
step for these people and Dr O'Neil is just giving them a way of helping
them fight it. At least he is doing something positive for these people and
not allowing them to continue in the vicious circle and end up in jail and
detention centres.

It's a pity that when people want help to overcome their addiction, no one
in our society will lend a helping hand to allow them to achieve their goals.

Tougher laws and strong parental influences might also make just a few more
kids think twice about taking drugs.

I suggest the drug laws need to be reviewed and parents should be more
involved in parenting and caring for their children.
