MAN DIES AFTER SHOOTING POLICE SAY IS DRUG-RELATED

Three In Vehicle Were Shot In Incident On The North Side Of
Pittsburgh.

A Pittsburgh man died one day after he and two others were shot in
what police believe is the latest in a series of drug-related
shootings on the city's North Side.

Mark Hunter, 23, died at Allegheny General Hospital at 10:05 a.m.
Wednesday, the Allegheny County coroner's office said. An autopsy is
scheduled for today.

Hunter and two other men -- Carl Burley, 20, and Edward Howard, 22,
both of Pittsburgh -- were shot Tuesday, police said. Burley died and
Howard was transferred to UMPC-Presbyterian Hospital, where officials
refused to release his condition Wednesday.

Police on Wednesday said they still hadn't arrested anyone in the
shooting, which occurred about 2 p.m. when men in a van opened fire on
the victims' car as it drove down a busy street near the city's main
post office.

"We think it may be retaliation for past events or past shootings,"
said Lt. Thomas Stangrecki of the city's homicide unit. "There's been
a number of shootings this year over on the North Side."

Police believe the shooting is drug-related because 500 doses of
heroin and a handgun were found in the victims' car.

The guns used in the shooting were an AK-47 assault rifle and some
other type of .40-caliber weapon, police said.

Police were searching for a white or silver late model Ford passenger
van with at least three occupants.
