WOODY GIVES UP POT -- SORT OF
It's not really news that Woody Harrelson has all but given up his
film career to champion his pet cause, hemp legalization, but here's
a bombshell from the laid-back star: He's given up pot, reports Mr.
Showbiz.
Well, for a few days, at least. The Hi-Lo Country star told Premiere
magazine he was so shaken up by a friend's recent bicycle accident
that he sought the drastic action of breaking out of his
self-acknowledged ``perpetual fog.''
``I've been so shaken up lately that I can't even bring myself to
smoke weed,'' says the 39-year-old actor-activist of his reaction to
close friend and Kentucky hemp activist Joe Hickey's accident. ``It's
been four days since I burned one.'' Four whole days?
Interestingly, the bicycle accident of the actor's wife, Laura,
failed to prompt a similar lifestyle change. In May, Woody's wife was
hit by a big-rig truck during a pro-environmental bicycle trek along
the West Coast with Harrelson and eight other friends, after which
she was briefly hospitalized.
Harrelson says his film career is ``not a priority. These days, I am
hard-pressed to do a movie instead of this stuff. If I lose my
career, I don't need it.''
