MARIJUANA FAR LESS HARMFUL

In regards to The Record's recent article "Senate voters to
decriminalize pot," I feel the state Senate took a positive step
toward recognizing what marijuana truly is: "a habit-forming drug" as
stated by Nevada Assemblywoman Chris Giunchigliani, D-Las Vegas. When
compared to alcohol or other controlling substances, marijuana seems
to produce the least amount of side effects detrimental to the
individual. Although the outright legalization of marijuana may not
be the best solution, continued reform of the current laws may be a
step toward recognizing that marijuana is far less dangerous when
compared to other drugs, and state laws should follow accordingly.
