TAKING DRUG OFF MARKET NO SOLUTION

In his June 20 letter, Gene Hogan has shown the colors of a true
socialistic liberal in advocating the removal of Oxycontin from the
market. He has, in effect, declared that government, not the
individual, bears the responsibility for drug problems. This
advocacy, so prevalent in recent years, is parallel to getting rid of
automobiles because people die in wrecks.

Oxycontin, taken at a low dosage, allows me, as a 20-year cancer
survivor with permanent nerve damage, a fairly normal existence.
Without it, I can't walk.

Perhaps Mr. Hogan should channel his efforts toward getting some real
help for his pals instead of crusading for the government to throw
the baby out with the bath water.
