ELDERLY WOMAN CHARGED WITH SMUGGLING

ATHENS, Greece (AP) -- An elderly woman was charged Friday with attempting
to smuggle heroin hidden in a container of spaghetti to her inmate grandson.

Anastasia Lefkari, 84, was arrested in Korydallos prison on Thursday after
officials said she tried to slip her 24-year-old grandson 30 grams of
heroin hidden in the pasta.

She was formally charged before a public prosecutor Friday.

Lefkari said her grandson's friend gave her the food and she had no idea it
was being used to conceal drugs.

Lefkari was ordered held pending a hearing.
