BREAKING HEARTS

I WRITE in relation to comments by S Porter (Letters, June 23). I'd ask S
Porter to compare New Zealand police having the dubious distinction of the
highest arrest rate per capita for cannabis with New Zealand having the
highest youth suicide rate in the Western world. S/he goes on to say that
stopping cannabis arrests would free officers to focus on more serious crime.

Doesn't s/he realise that the crime (selling cannabis) is against the youth
(and, in some cases, adolescents) of this country who daily break some
parents' hearts, all because some low-life sold them cannabis.

I hope S Porter takes note.
