LAWYERS

The other day a grand jury indicted former All-Pro receiver Michael Irvin
on a felony cocaine-possession charge. Just prior to his arrest, the
ex-Dallas star had finished four years of probation stemming from a . . .
cocaine conviction.

Irvin's lawyer calls his client's indictment "overaggressive, overzealous
prosecution."

Stop the presses!

What's wrong with prosecutors actually prosecuting? Or demonstrating when
folks with celebrity status (who can afford high-priced counsel - and
cocaine) do the crime, they also do the time? Or seeking the slammer for a
previous drug offender whose last brush with the law resulted only in a
slap on the wrist?

No wonder "lawyer" routinely ranks down there with "rabid raccoon,"
"pigeon," "weasel," and "bat" (and "journalist") on most public-approval lists.
