POTHEADS BETTER PASSENGERS

How ironic that after making the national news because of rioting in the
street on Canada Day, that just recently Edmonton MP Peter Goldring was
warning us about the dangers of marijuana.

As a former taxi driver who pulled lots of night shifts cruising bars
looking for fares. I can tell you that if there was a choice of having a
pothead in my cab or Joe Canadian with a belly full of beer I would take
the pothead every time.

In five years of driving nights I never had to worry about being mugged,
assaulted, punched, shanked, robbed or stiffed for a fare by someone
stoned, but I lost lots of nights after having a drunk in my car. At a cost
of about $75 for the seats to be steam-cleaned coupled with the loss of a
night's wages, it got rather expensive driving Joe Canadian home.
