ANTI-RAVE MOVEMENT CASTS TOO WIDE A NET
Good for the member of the Greenville County Council who wants to ban
all-ages raves. No 13-year old has any business at a rave.
Good for those who want to stop illegal drug use anytime in any place by
anyone. However, the rave on White Horse Road wasn't all ages. It was 17
and up. I know because I went. I'm 28. I don't use drugs. Most of the
people I saw at the rave weren't on drugs.
Out of more than 1,000 people at the rave, 70 were arrested. Send police to
search (sometimes multiple times), more than 1,000 people, with dogs, bad
attitudes and a helicopter, then arrest people not only for drug possession
and intoxication but also for questioning the legality of the searches, and
more than 70 people are likely to go to jail even if the search is being
conducted in a church on Sunday morning!
County Council is missing the point. Make the raves 18 and up. Arrest drug
dealers along with other criminals. Leave the rest of us to dance and have
a good evening.
The searches conducted at the White Horse rave were unconstitutional. The
ACLU has been informed.
