BAR OWNERS TO GET CRASH COURSE IN DESIGNER DRUGS

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE - The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office will help
teach local bar owners how to keep designer drugs out of their clubs.

A two-hour presentation begins at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cape May County
Public Safety Training Center.

According to Jim Rybicki, chief of detectives for the Cape May County
Prosecutor's Office, the presentation should be invaluable to bar owners.

"It will give an overview of designer drugs and the signs and symptoms to
look for, as well as the penalties for their use," he said.

The drugs that will be discussed include Ecstasy, GHB, OxyContin and Ketamine.

These are called designer or club drugs because of their popular use at
rave parties.

While more prevalent in cities, the drugs have been moving to the shore,
particularly in the summer, Rybicki said.

Three speakers - a Drug Enforcement Agency special agent, a Cape May County
Narcotics Task Force investigator and a Cape Assist representative - will
discuss different aspects of the drugs.

The presentation is being sponsored by the Cape May County Licensed
Beverage Owners Association.
