FORUM TACKLES METH CRISIS
The state's methamphetamine crisis will be the topic of discussion Tuesday
night at a public forum.
The forum, which will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist
Church, 1401 NW 25, is being held in response to The Oklahoman and KWTV
NEWS9 series: "Meth: Shattered Lives."
"If we are going to make a difference, change has to happen on a grassroots
level," said Jan Miller, executive director of the sponsoring Citizens League.
The forum will feature a panel including Ben Brown, deputy commissioner of
the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services; Lt.
Tommy Terhune of the Oklahoma City Police Department Special Operations
Unit; District Court Judge Tom Lucas, who presides over a drug court in
Cleveland County; and Dr. Hal Vorse, medical director of A Chance to Change
Foundation, a drug treatment provider.
The event will be moderated by Kelly Ogle and Jenifer Reynolds from NEWS9.
