Universal Studios Pay-Per-View Presents The

'TRAFFIC E-MAIL FUNDRAISER' TO BENEFIT THE PARTNERSHIP FOR A DRUG-FREE AMERICA

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- To help promote the
pay-per-view (PPV) exhibition of the critically acclaimed feature film
"Traffic," Universal Studios Pay-Per-View (USPPV) has created the "Traffic
E-mail Fundraiser" to support the Partnership for a Drug-Free America's
(PDFA) fight against drugs.

Consumers have the opportunity to create customized e-mails by visiting the
campaign's official website (www.universalstudios.com/ppv/pdfa), where they
are able to choose from a wide selection of backgrounds for their e-mail
messages, featuring the stars of "Traffic," still images from the movie, a
variety of audio tracks and personalized text. For each e-mail sent, USPPV
is donating $1.00 to Partnership for a Drug-Free America to help support
its efforts in educating people about substance abuse, with a goal to reach
$50,000. The campaign began with the PPV premiere on July 17th and will
continue through October 29, 2001, the end of "Traffic's" PPV window.

Regarding the announcement, Holly Leff-Pressman, senior vice president of
worldwide pay-per-view and video-on-demand, Universal Studios Television
Distribution, stated "We are very excited about this promotion, as it has a
major impact on the war against drugs and we are proud to be able to stand
behind this important cause."

She added, "'Traffic' is a high-profile film that addresses a serious issue
affecting society today. Through this promotion, we are giving operators
the opportunity to increase their presence before consumers with a top
quality film and a resourceful initiative important to people of all ages."

"'Traffic' is a stunning film that tells viewers drug addiction is ugly and
that treatment can work, but above all it makes it clear that educating
kids may be the best way out of this mess," said Richard D. Bonnette,
president and CEO of the Partnership. "This is what the Partnership is all
about, and the support of Universal Studios Pay-Per-View for our efforts is
a tremendous help."

Winner of four Academy Awards(R), including Best Director (Steven
Soderbergh) and Best Screenplay (Stephen Gaghan), "Traffic" is a
contemporary thriller set in the world of drug trafficking. Starring
Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Oscar(R) winner for Best
Supporting Actor, Benicio Del Toro, Traffic evokes the high stakes and
risks of the drug trade as seen through a series of interrelated stories,
some of which are highly personal and filled with intrigue and danger.
