POLICE SHOULD FOCUS ON PURSUING THOSE WHO GIVE ALCOHOL TO MINORS

Alcohol is the drug of choice for teenagers and adults. It seems that
almost monthly we hear of a pot grower being busted. However, it takes the
death of three kids and a police officer to energize the police to find the
people who provided alcohol to the kids. I have personal doubts they would
have tried to find the sellers if a police officer had not been killed.

Instead of handing out numerous minor in consumption citations to kids,
which is an easy job, why not consistently and relentlessly pursue the
sellers, or as they should be known, "pushers"? Why round up a bunch of
kids in the middle of the night using tactics like roadblocks, give them
tickets for drinking and then turn these impaired kids loose to find their
way home? Take those kids home and use the threat of minor in consumption
to get the names of sellers. Do not whine that the kids will not provide
information. When they try hard, the police will manage to get the
information they need and parents will help.

Along these lines, we need to reconsider the legal drinking age. If one is
old enough to leave home and live in a college environment, fight and die
in a foreign country and vote, is that person not old enough to buy beer?
